The layoffs of 55 workers at the Pri Galil fruit packing factory in Hatzor Haglilit were expected to go into effect Tuesday morning, in what may be the end of a months-long battle by workers to retain their jobs, Army Radio reported. The layoffs were first announced in early August but due to a court battle and protests, were not put into effect until now.The Histadrut labor federation argued last week that the layoffs were not legal, Army Radio reported. A strike in the factory was planned for Tuesday afternoon.
