Reports: Dankner survives helicopter crash

Businessman Nochi Dankner, best known for his disastrous tenure overseeing Israel's largest conglomerate IDB, survived a helicopter crash in the South American jungle, the Yediot Ahoronot newspaper reported Wednesday.
According to the report, the incident occurred last week, while Dankner and businessmen from the US and China were enjoying a helicopter tour and was kept secret.
Dankner's helicopter started losing altitude after its engine started failing, but the pilot skillfully directed it away from mountains to a soft landing in a ravine, where tree branches softened the impact. Nobody was injured, save one person who complained of back pain. The other helicopters on the tour returned Dankner and the others who were with him in the helicopter to safety.
The 61-year-old magnate, who ran IDB from 2003 to 2013, when he was ousted over major debt problems, has since returned to Israel.
