LONDON- News Corp head Rupert Murdoch has told staff in an email the company is taking steps to ensure serious problems never happen again there and that staff who betrayed trust must be held to account, following a phone-hacking scandal at one of his papers.
"In regard to the issues at News International, we are taking urgent steps to address the past and ensure that serious problems never happen again," he said in a message sent after he and his son James Murdoch appeared before a parliamentary hearing in London on Tuesday.
"Those who have betrayed our trust must be held accountable under the law," he added.
"I have the utmost confidence that we will emerge a stronger company. It will take time for us to rebuild trust and confidence, but we are determined to live up to the expectations of our stockholders, customers, colleagues and partners."
