Saudi FM: More urgent solution than sanctions needed on Iran

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal expressed doubt on Monday evening about the usefulness of seeking more sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program. In a joint appearance with US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, he said the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions demanded a more immediate solution.
"Sanctions are a long-term solution. But we see the issue in the shorter term because we are closer to the threat," he said.
Faisal did not specify a preferred short-term resolution.
