Searches conducted by U.S. Coast Guard for downed civilian aircraft

The US Coast said on Thursday it was searching for a small civilian aircraft that went down in the Atlantic off the coast of South Carolina.
The six-to-eight-seat Piper PA-31 aircraft was flying from South Carolina to the Bahamas when it went down around 110 miles east of Charleston after air traffic controllers received a report of an in-flight emergency and lost radar contact, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
