Shaath says he'll visit Gaza to follow up Hamas unity talks

Senior Fatah official Nabil Shaath on Sunday said he will go to the Gaza Strip following talks between rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas in Cairo this week to "reinforce efforts to complete the reconciliation and end division," Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. He said the visit would take place on December 23 or 24.
Fatah and Hamas began several days of meetings in Cairo to help implement a reconciliation deal reached by the two parties earlier this year.
Shaath, speaking with the Voice of Palestine radio station, also addressed the latest Quartet-sponsored efforts to restart peace negotiations with Israel, saying "there are no updates on this matter." He called Israel's position "aggressive" and slammed recent attacks by settlers.
