Slain Libyan rebel's family demand progress on probe

BENGHAZI  - The family ofthe Libyan rebels' slain military commander said on Mondaylittle effort was being made to find out who had killed him inwhat they called an act involving conspiracy, treason andbetrayal.

General Abdel Fattah Younes was shot dead on Thursday withtwo aides at some point after he was summoned back from thefront line by the Transitional National Council (TNC), the rebelleadership in their stronghold of Benghazi.

After two days of confusion, rebels said the assailants weremilitiamen allied to the rebels in their struggle to overthrowMuammar Gaddafi, raising questions about divisions andlawlessness within rebel ranks.

Family members say they have received scant details from theTNC on the circumstances of his death and that no steps havebeen made to question those behind it.
