State rejects call to investigate Barak over foreign worker

The state on Thursday asked the High Court of Justice to reject a request by the right-wing Legal Forum for the Land of Israel to investigate Defense Minister Ehud Barak regarding his role in the illegal hiring of a foreign worker to serve as a domestic in his home.

The request was included in a petition filed by the Forum recently, which also demanded that State Attorney Yehuda Weinstein reopen the investigation into the affair after he announced that he was closing the file against Barak’s wife, Nili Priel, because the foreign worker could not be found and therefore there was insufficient evidence to prosecute her.
