Supreme Court keeps Shlomo Lahiani's sentence intact

The Supreme Court rejected an appeal by former Bat Yam mayor Shlomo Lahiani on Tuesday, keeping in place his sentence of eight months in prison.
Other elements of his sentence - probation and a fine - also remain in place, the Justice Ministry said.
Lahiani was arraigned on charges of breach of public trust and fraud in October 2013.
The Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court originally gave him a light sentence of no jail time and six months of community service, but in April his punishment was stepped up to eight months in prison following a state appeal.
