Turkey, China sign cooperation deals

ANKARA, Turkey — China and Turkey signed eight agreements to strengthen trade and cooperation between the two countries that are among the world's fastest growing economies.
Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan oversaw the signing of the deals on Friday.
Erdogan said the two countries aimed to raise bilateral trade to $50 billion (€36 billion) from the current $17 billion (€12 billion) in the next five years.
In a sign of closer ties, Chinese and Turkish military jets conducted joint air maneuvers in Turkey last month.
Earlier, hundreds of Uighurs protested China's crackdown on the minority group, throwing a shoe that missed Wen's motorcade.
