UN chief, Libya PM discuss need to solve fighting

UNITED NATIONS - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon spoke with Libya's prime minister by telephone on Thursday about the need to end the current fighting in the North African nation, according to a statement from Ban's spokesperson's office.
Ban and Al-Baghdadi Ali Al-Mahmoudi also talked about how to "alleviate the dire humanitarian situation, and work out a transition that could bring peace to all Libyans" the statement said.
Libya's prime minister agreed that Ban's special envoy for Libya, Abdul Ilah Al-Khatib, could go to Tripoli soon for urgent consultations, the statement said.
