Wiesenthal Center honors Tom Cruise at annual tribute event

The Simon Wiesenthal Center on Thursday gave it's highest honor to American actor and producer Tom Cruise for his longtime support of the center and its Museum of Tolerance, an official statement released by the organization said.

The Wiesenthal Center's annual National Tribute Dinner was held in Beverly Hills and the award was presented to Cruise by Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount pictures.

Medals of Valor were also awarded to: Luis Alberto Urzúa, one of the trapped Chilean miners whose "cool head and calm leadership guided the men through their ordeal," the statement said; Gyöngyi Magó, a Catholic schoolteacher in Hungary who has made efforts to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive; and Peter Bergson (posthumously), who during the Holocaust challenged the Roosevelt government to make rescuing Europe's Jews a top priority.
