Cream cheese in wasabi and salsa flavors, Gad Dairies
A shelf that is crying out for fun and creativity gets exactly what it asked for, with a double — and wonderful — Israeli launch.
The new cream cheeses from Gad Dairies, under the wings of its New York series, go for heat and spiciness with wasabi (paste) and pepper-onion-garlic salsa flavors.
The two containers (200 grams) highlight a rich and indulgent 24% fat, an ideal texture for spreading (and also for a fork straight from the inside out), and a kick that forgoes aggressiveness. This is mature and relatively delicate compared to what is customary in the genre, in a way that allows for variety in molds and baked goods, works perfectly with omelets and bagels, and above all maintains its identity.
Grilled turkey pastrami, Yehiam
The northern meat brand expands an already popular series with a product destined to take a place of honor in refrigerators. That is, in the few minutes from opening until the package is emptied.
Yehiam’s grilled turkey pastrami is part of its “Dak-Dak” collection, and is based on young chicken breast, as befits its name. It is sliced, you guessed it, into delightfully thin slices that encourage snacking, and contains about 16% protein and about 2% fat. The final result maintains flavors that are relatively delicate for the genre, reasonable juiciness for the cut and thickness, and a smoky personality that does not take over. Price: About NIS 14.90 for a 120-gram package.
Granola bars, Fitness
It was probably only a matter of time, but the new launch from the successful lifestyle brand from Osem-Nestlé nevertheless managed to surprise. Positively.
Fitness granola bars join a wide family of mid-day options, its beginning and end, of course. They know what is required of them — crunchiness is desired, moderate sweetness is certainly desired, on the seam between indulgence and thoughts about calories, and most desired of all is a non-embarrassing ingredient list — and they deliver this list of requirements in full.
The series currently includes dark chocolate, cranberry and honey versions, highlights whole grains, is individually wrapped and is signed with 89 calories per bar. We didn’t ask for more than that.
Argaliot and Home Cake in maple flavor, Osem
The cool Israeli season led to a double move, and a double launch, from the local food giant. Perhaps the cuddling will come from there.
Osem’s maple edition includes the Home Cake and Argaliot, which have been attached to words like comfort and indulgence. The former, a basic product in most homes here, maintains its characteristic softness and highlights a sweetness that could have been one degree less present, but nevertheless pairs excellently next to coffee, and next to tea. The cookies, an even bigger institution, present the familiar combination of an outer crunch and an inner filling, and definitely encourage further indulgences down the line.
Sweet chili sauce and coffee-making powder, Skinny Pasta
The health nutrition brand Ein Vered continues to expand menus and options with a double and embracing launch.
Skinny Pasta’s chili sauce (330 ml) avoids added sugar and gluten and seeks to answer one of the popular needs of cooking in the local kitchen. It is sweet to a degree and spicy to a degree, naturally jumps into stir-fry matters but is also interesting as a spread and as a general kick for baking molds and larger pots.
At the same time, a new box (400 grams) jumps in of powder for making coffee, sugar-free of course. It is based on a combination of erythritol and instant coffee, contains 4 calories per teaspoon and blends well in both cold and hot drinks, and in baked goods that require a bit more depth. The taste is caffeinated enough, and the sweetness is reasonable, so the caffeine lovers among us now enjoy another option.
