A large-scale battery test recently published by the technology site CNET determines that Apple devices lead the industry in battery life. The iPhone 17 Pro Max was ranked as the smartphone with the highest endurance among all the devices tested, while Apple shares first place as the strongest brand in the field alongside OnePlus.

CNET’s annual report summarizes a series of comparative tests conducted throughout 2025 and included 35 smartphone models sold on the American market. According to the weighted results of several performance metrics, Apple and OnePlus were ranked as the two brands presenting the strongest battery performance on average.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max won the title of the single device with the best performance, noting that the model tested was the American version of the device. This model is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 5,088 milliampere-hours (mAh), constituting an upgrade compared to 4,823 milliampere-hours in other models. The improvement in capacity was made possible thanks to the transition to using eSIM technology only, a move that freed internal physical space within the device and enabled the battery to be enlarged.

The standard iPhone 17 model reached second place in the ranking, sharing it with the OnePlus 15 device. This achievement is considered particularly significant for the iPhone 17, as it has the smallest battery capacity among the devices that reached the top of the table. Third place was taken by the Poco F7 Ultra, and rounding out the top five is the iPhone 17 Pro, which placed fourth.

The testing methodology included two fixed performance tests designed to reduce varying external influences. The first test included video streaming over a wireless network at maximum screen brightness for three hours. The second test was an intensive endurance test lasting 45 minutes that included gaming, video viewing, browsing social networks, and conducting a video call.

In the specific endurance test, the iPhone 17 Pro Max returned to first place, followed by the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 16e. At CNET, they also positively noted the performance of the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold devices in this test, alongside Motorola’s Razr device.

In the summary of data by brands, calculated by averaging the results of companies from which at least three different models were tested, Apple was ranked first and OnePlus second. Motorola and Samsung took third and fourth places respectively, while Google was ranked fifth in overall brand performance.
