The Hind Rajab Foundation filed a criminal complaint with Cypriot authorities, demanding the immediate arrest of an Israeli Druze soldier currently in Cyprus, the organization announced Friday.
The Belgium-based organization cited the soldier’s alleged direct involvement in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and actions potentially amounting to genocide as reasons for the complaint.
The organization published that the soldier's battalion and brigade allegedly serve within Gaza, adding that his unit played a main role in the “destruction of Palestinian cities, hospitals, and refugee camps.”
The foundation said the soldier filmed and published to social media his involvement in destroying homes in Khan Yunis, Jabalya, and Deir al-Balah, shooting rockets into abandoned homes, and burning residential buildings both before and after searches.
Additionally, the organization claims that the soldier oversaw and documented the “forced evacuation” of civilians from Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis on February 26, 2024. HRF also claimed he documented the destruction of the Jabalya Elementary Boys School in May 2024.
The organization claimed that the soldier publicly glorified war crimes and devastation.
HRF called on Cyprus to arrest him immediately, prevent his departure from the country, initiate a full investigation and prosecution, and cooperate with international bodies to ensure justice is served.
What is the Hind Rajab Foundation?
HRF is one of the anti-Israel organizations that has targeted IDF soldiers with doxxing and legal campaigns, basing its allegations on footage published by the soldiers on their social media accounts.
According to the HRF website, it is a branch of the March 30 Movement, a larger anti-Israel organization, which is committed to the recognition of “genocide in Gaza.”
