Likud anti-freeze pressure to focus on MK Sa’ar

After meeting with congressmen, MK says, "Republicans apologized for Obama and said he was not representing the view of America.”

Top Likud central committee members will flood the Knesset next Monday to oppose a proposed construction moratorium in Judea and Samaria and to pressure Likud ministers not to support it.
The activists will focus their pressure on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s No. 2 in the party, Education Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who came out publicly in favor of the freeze on Monday, on the condition that construction continue throughout Jerusalem and that the US promise not to demand another extension of the freeze.
“Gideon has a strong connection to the party activists, so it’s important that he hear the views of his constituency,” said Likud MK Danny Danon, who is organizing the rally.
Danon returned on Tuesday from a visit to New York and Chicago, where he met with congressmen and senior American Jewish officials and was one of the featured speakers at the Zionist Organization of America’s annual dinner. Danon discussed with the congressmen the formation of a congressional committee on US-Israel relations that could pressure Obama on Israel issues.
Danon said he met several Republican leaders who spoke out against the freeze including former presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Gary Bauer.
“When I told them that Obama was bullying the prime minister, the Republicans apologized for Obama and said he was not representing the view of America,” Danon said.
