Vandals tried to torch a Palestinian taxi cab at the entrance to the village of Danya in the southern Hebron Hills region late Sunday night, in what police are investigating as a “price-tag” incident.
The vandals also spraypainted “tag mehir (price tag) Sussiya” and “Greetings from Meir Ettinger,” on a nearby wall. The first is an apparent reference to a recent clash between undercover police posing as Palestinian shepherds and settlers near the West Bank village of Sussiya.
The second refers to Meir Ettinger, a settler accused of monitoring IDF movements in the West Bank.
Also Monday, police from the YAMAR central investigative unit brought two juveniles, suspected of involvement in a series of price tag incidents, to the Jerusalem Juvenile Court, where they sought a remand extension.
Ch.-Insp. Dudi Asraf, spokesman for the Judea and Samaria police, said the two youths were arrested Sunday night on suspicion of being involved in vandalizing cars belonging to Israeli Arabs in Jerusalem, and plastering “Death to the Arabs” stickers on Palestinian cars near the West Bank settlement of Betar Illit.
Asraf added that the investigation against them does not include any incidents of violence against Palestinians.
