Kadima on PA tax transfer: 'Gov't losing credibility'

MK says gov't unable to confront "fluctuations in Palestinian camp"; Kadima spokesperson: "PM is zigzagging, embarrassing Israel."

Kadima MK Nachman Shai on Monday commented on the government's decision Sunday night to transfer tax revenues to the Palestinian Authority, saying, "This is how the Israeli government is losing its credibility once again."
"Even before the ink dried on the finance minister's populist declaration saying he won't transfer tax funds to the Palestinians, it turns out that he is transferring them and with urgency, as was demanded by the international community," the Kadima MK said.

"This exercise, which has been tried before and has failed, illustrates the short-sightedness of the government and its inability to confront in an inventive way the fluctuations in the Palestinian camp," Shai added.
The Kadima spokesperson also commented on Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz's decision regarding the tax funds transfer, saying in a statement: "Netanyahu is again zigzagging and embarrassing Israel. Nothing was left from his threats and statements against the transfer of funds to the [Palestinian] Authority, other than the widening of the political hole he led Israel to and the embarrassment from its [the country's] failed conduct."
"At Kadima we suggest that, following Netanyahu's folding before the tax issue for the Palestinians, he fold in favor of Israeli tax benefits. If you're already zigzagging, then zigzag in favor of your citizens," the spokesman said.
