An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter Scale rattled northern Israel at about 3:01 p.m. on Monday, with its epicenter just north of Lake Kinneret, according to the Israel Geophysical Institute’s Seismology Division.No injuries were reported.The last earthquake to be felt in Israel were tremors from a mild eastern Mediterranean quake on December 28, which registered 5.8 on the Richter Scale and was centered about 80 kilometers south-southwest of Avsallar, Turkey.Prior to these tremors, Israelis near Haifa felt a 3.4-magnitude quake on December 12, which followed a string of minor quakes in Israel’s North in October.The last significant quake to impact Israel was a 6.2 magnitude tremor in 1927, which caused the deaths of some 550 people on both sides of the Jordan River and considerable damage in Jerusalem, Nablus, and Jericho.
