Sesame noodles

This three-step dish is easy to make, can be served cold, and is always perfect to bring to a picnic.

SESAME NOODLESMakes 6 to 8 servings
1 (16-ounce) package linguine6 cloves garlic, minced6 tablespoons sugar6 tablespoons safflower oil6 tablespoons rice vinegar6 tablespoons soy sauce2 tablespoons sesame oil1-2tablespoons hot Chinese chili sauce or crushed red pepper flakes6 scallion, sliced1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
1. Cook linguine according to package directions, drain and transfer to a large serving bowl.
2. Combine garlic, sugar, oil, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili sauce in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.
3. Pour over linguine, tossing to coat. Sprinkle with scallions and sesame seeds.
