A Haitian teen shot and killed a classmate Monday night in a rare outbreak of school violence in the troubled country.
Police spokesman Garry Desrosier says the 16-year-old opened fire on the 13-year-old north of the capital in the town of Cabaret.
He threatened to shoot other students before fleeing and has not been arrested. The motive in Monday's shooting was unknown.
Violence plagues Haiti but has rarely penetrated schools in the impoverished Caribbean nation, especially those outside the capital.
