A landslide triggered by recent snow and rains engulfed a passenger bus on a mountainous road in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir on Saturday, killing 11 people and injuring five others, police said.
The incident happened near the town of Rawalakot, 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan's part of the divided Himalayan state, local police official Mohammed Rashid said.
Rescuers had recovered the bodies of 11 people from the mud and rocky debris of the landslide and the remaining five passengers were taken to a nearby military hospital for treatment, he said.
Such incidents happen frequently in the region where a magnitude 7.6 earthquake in 2005 killed thousands of people and damaged many roads. Since then, authorities have been repairing the roads.
