Road accident kills 27 people in Iran

State television says at least 27 people were killed when their tour bus crashed in southwestern Iran. Tuesday's report says 14 others were injured in the crash, four of them critically. Local witness Khodadad Abdollahi says the bus was filled with a group of teachers touring sites from the Iran-Iraq war. He said the bus hit a truck and collapsed into a valley. The crash occurred Monday evening on the road linking Dehdez to Izeh, some 450 kilometers southwest of the capital, Teheran. Iran has one of the worst road safety records in the world. More than 26,000 people lose their lives in road accidents every year.
