Israel has been extended an invitation by Egypt to send a delegation to Cairo for hostage deal talks, a source familiar with the details told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

According to the source, their message is that "There are no more excuses for Israel not to send a delegation now that the war with Iran is over."

Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said that in the next two days, there will be indirect talks between Hamas and Israel to reach a ceasefire.

He added that he hopes "that Israel does not take advantage of the Iran ceasefire to keep attacking Gaza."

Qatar helps get Israel-Iran ceasefire

Qatar helped US President Donald Trump broker the ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel, a diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post.

Trump spoke to Al Thani before the agreement was reached, a source familiar with details told the Post. US Vice President JD Vance later spoke with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the source added.

Al Thani secured Tehran's agreement to the US proposal during a call with Iranian officials held after Iran's strikes on a US air base in Qatar on Monday, an official briefed on the negotiations told Reuters.

This is a developing story.
