Israeli forces killed the terrorist in Nablus who was responsible for the death of two IDF soldiers in the Kfir Brigade, the IDF announced in a statement on Monday.
The IDF, Shin Bet, and Israel Police said that Israeli forces were engaging in a firefight with a terrorist in the area of eastern Nablus during counterterrorism operations.
According to the IDF, security forces identified a structure in which the terrorist, Ala Raouf Shetiyya, was hiding and carried out a precision strike. Shetiyya had reportedly barricaded himself inside the structure and was armed.
The IDF also apprehended several collaborators who operated with Shetiyya during the operation.
The May 2024 attack
Shetiyya had carried out a car-ramming attack in May 2024 at a checkpoint at one of the entrances to the city, near the settlement of Itamar.
The soldiers were identified as 20-year-old St.-Sgt. Eliya Hilel from Tel Zion and 20-year-old St.-Sgt. Diego Shvisha Harsaj from Tel Aviv.
The soldiers had been inspecting another Palestinian vehicle at the checkpoint when the terrorist rammed into them.
Shetiyya initially fled the scene after carrying out the ramming attack, but later turned himself in to the Palestinian Authority.
The IDF and Shin Bet commenced an intelligence operation as soon as Shetiyya fled, which led to Monday's strike.
On Sunday night, IDF soldiers carried out a series of arrests of suspected terrorists in Nablus and east of Tulkarm, in the West Bank.
In the past week, the IDF and Shin Bet arrested more than 60 wanted suspects across the West Bank, including 18 Hamas operatives, during a series of raids targeting terror cells and weapons trafficking hubs.
