All students nationwide will not have their grades affected by absences amid the war with Iran, the Education Ministry announced on Tuesday.

"Student attendance will not be a factor in grade assessment during this challenging period," the Education Ministry stated after intense discussions with the National Student and Youth Council on the matter.

"Students can breathe easy. After many efforts, a clear directive was issued not to harm students' grades due to difficulties in attendance," Chairman of the National Student and Youth Council, Dror Cohen, said.

"It is unacceptable that a student who experienced a night of sirens or emotional distress should fear further anxiety over their grades," Cohen added. "We are here to ensure that during this time of uncertainty, the education system prioritizes emotional support before numeric grades."

Special education institutions in Jerusalem resume operations

Special education institutions in Jerusalem are expected to resume operations on Wednesday, after two and a half weeks of closure due to Operation Roaring Lion.

This decision follows the recommendation of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon and approval from the IDF Home Front Command. Other educational institutions in the city will continue remote learning only, including daycare centers, communication classes, integration classes, and special needs classes.

However, no transportation will be provided at this stage, and students will need to arrive independently. Schools without proper protected spaces will be required to relocate to alternative buildings. Education staff will train students on how to reach protected areas, and police patrols will be in place to enhance security.

On Monday, the Home Front Command extended its current policies until Wednesday night, following the implementation of an updated policy that categorized regions of the country based on its assessment, with some areas able to partially resume previously prohibited activities.

Following these new guidelines, schools have resumed in-person classes in the Beit She'an Valley, the Jordan Valley, Samaria, Judea, the Dead Sea, Western Lachish, the Gaza Envelope, the Western and Southern Negev, and the Arava.
