Border police officers caught a Palestinian suspected of illegally transporting 12 protected birds near the Palestinian town of Barta'a.
During standard patrols in the Reihan crossing area, the soldiers identified a vehicle that raised their suspicion. As they searched the vehicle, the police found 12 protected birds of the European Goldfinch breed.
The protected birds were poorly taken care of, kept under a net in the back of the suspect's car. The birds were likely intended to be sold off in Barta'a.
The suspect, in his 40s, is a resident of Jenin. He was taken in for questioning, along with the birds.
