Soldiers from the Golan Brigade allegedly stole a herd of 250 goats from Syria and transferred them to farms in the West Bank two weeks ago, N12 reported on Thursday. The soldiers are accused of ordering trucks to transport the goats to several breeding sites.

Dozens of goats on a main road were reported to the IDF by a farmer passing through the area. The IDF stated that it was impossible to conduct surveillance and identify the event due to heavy fog that night, N12 wrote.

Following the incident, the team commander was dismissed, with the company commander receiving a disciplinary comment. The involved team was suspended from operational activity. The Military Police are still investigating the event.

Agriculture Ministry attempting to locate herd

The Ministry of Agriculture is trying to find the herd, and said the goats are not vaccinated or marked.

“The event is known and is being investigated by the relevant commanders. After clarifying the event, disciplinary actions were taken against those involved in following improper operational conduct, which led to the crossing of a herd of goats into Israeli territory,” an IDF Spokesperson stated.
