A 30-year-old resident of Jaffa was arrested after a search of a compound yielded dozens of doses of cocaine, the Israel Police confirmed on Wednesday.

A non-lethal grenade was also found and confiscated. In addition, five security cameras that had been recording nearby public areas were removed.

The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning.

Israel Border Police foil drug smuggling attempt at Jordanian border

An undercover investigation by the Israel Anti-Terrorism Unit led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Bedouin resident suspected of trafficking nearly 14 kg of drugs on Tuesday night, according to a statement by the Israel Police on Wednesday.

The statement said that detectives from the Israel Anti-Terrorism Unit, together with the Jordan Border Unit and soldiers from the Judea and Samaria Border Guard, "worked last night to arrest a suspect in the act while carrying out a transaction involving substances suspected of being dangerous drugs," which he was suspected of planning to smuggle into Jordan.

The suspect initially fled the scene, but was caught by the police with the assistance of an IAF helicopter, and he was eventually arrested by them and transferred for questioning at the Israel Anti-Terrorism Unit.

The drugs, described as "hashish type," were confiscated, as well as the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect was transferred for questioning at the Yad Vashem Regional Police Headquarters on suspicion of crimes of trafficking and distribution of dangerous drugs and other offenses.

Police seize half a kilo of cocaine from a kindergarten teacher

In September 2025, Israel Police seized around half a kilogram of cocaine from a kindergarten teacher and one other suspect, who were both arrested for drug trafficking.

The two suspects were spotted at a commercial center in broad daylight, where they were arrested and searched by officers who found the suspects in possession of drugs not intended for personal use and a large sum of money.

Both suspects, residents of central Israel in their 30s, were detained in custody.

Major undercover drug bust in July 2025

An undercover agent led to the arrest of over 50 weapons and drug traffickers in July, according to the Israel Police.

The agent, codenamed “The Nobleman,” had worked with Lahav 433 for about a year to gather evidence against over 50 suspects involved in weapons and cocaine trafficking worth thousands of shekels.

The civilian agent was recruited to target criminals across Israel. Lahav 433 helped him carry out more than 30 controlled and monitored transactions, including the purchase of 18 pistols, three M16 rifles, and over 1.5 kg of cocaine, the police said.
