An illegal resident from the West Bank was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of preparing explosives and carrying out "additional terror activity" targeting IDF soldiers, Israel Police said on Tuesday night.

"The suspect was transferred for questioning by the Shin Bet [Israel Security Agency]," the statement ended.

Earlier on Tuesday, N12 News reported that Israel Police and the Shin Bet arrested a wanted individual after they had infiltrated Israel and hid on the roof of a building in Kafr Kassem.

According to N12, the individual was suspected of planning a terror attack in central Israel.

Source to N12: Police prevented major incident

The terrorist had "extensive knowledge in preparing explosives and various weapons," N12 reported, and had been involved in other attacks against IDF soldiers operating in the area.

"We may have prevented a particularly serious incident from a highly wanted individual who is responsible for quite a few terrorist acts against soldiers in the [West Bank]," N12 quoted a security force as saying.

The source added that the suspect is "an individual who holds intelligence that could assist in foiling future attacks."
