IDF combat teams in southern Lebanon discovered a hidden Hezbollah stronghold 25 meters underground inside a clothing store, according to a Thursday statement.
According to the military, the site was used by Hezbollah operatives to manage combat activity and store weapons.
Soldiers found weapons and several rooms inside the underground complex that were used for Hezbollah’s operational management.
Protecting Israel's northern border communities
The operation was carried out by the 769th Brigade Combat Team under the 91st Division, as part of ongoing activity south of the forward defense line to prevent threats to Israeli communities near the northern border.
The military said the forces were continuing efforts to expose and destroy terrorist infrastructure in the area.
The statement did not specify when the tunnel was built or how long the facility had been in use.
