More than 75 people gathered at a private Los Angeles home on Tuesday to meet Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Avi Dichter for an evening hosted by Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) and the IDF Widows and Orphans Organization (IDFWO).
“The era where Jews were being persecuted and killed because they are Jews is over,” Dichter said. “Fallen Israeli soldiers are the painful price that we pay for it. The families of those fallen heroes cannot be forgotten.”
FIDF and the IDFWO Organization support thousands of widows, orphans and family members who have suffered the devastating loss of a loved one serving in Israel’s military. The support given through FIDF’s partnership with the IDFWO Organization ensures that families of fallen soldiers are cared for and know their loved ones are not forgotten.
“Finally, after thousands of years, the Jewish Diaspora has a homeland,” said FIDF Western Region board member Dr. Igal Elyassi, who hosted the evening. “Living in the United States, I feel it’s everyone’s responsibility to help protect this oasis of freedom and democracy.
It is an absolute honor for me to be able to support the meaningful work of the IDFWO Organization through my involvement at FIDF, two organizations of which I am proud to be a part.”
