An indictment was filed on Monday against Ya’acov Yetah, 44, from Haifa on suspicion of incitement to racism and threats against Attorney-General Gali Baharav-Miara.

His TikTok account, called “Kahanism” and with the username “kobikanizem,” had hundreds of followers.

On October 29, he posted a video encouraging racism against Palestinians. The video included an invitation to an event marking 35 years since the murder of Meir Kahane, featuring the phrase “Kahane was right!” in several places.

Kahane was a far-right extremist rabbi whose Kach movement promoted openly racist, Jewish-supremacist policies, including the expulsion of Arabs from Israel.

His party was barred from running for the Knesset in 1988 under an amendment prohibiting racist and antidemocratic lists. It was the first time a party was disqualified on those grounds.

Accompanying Yetah’s video was a recording of a Kahane speech in which he said: “If you want a state... the solution is: Arabs out!”

Yetah later posted two additional videos in which he lodged harsh complaints against Baharav-Miara, including threats to harm her, her freedom, her good name, and her job.

Threats emerge against former MAG Tomer-Yerushalmi

One of the videos displayed a picture of Baharav-Miara. while Yetah can be heard saying, “Did you see what happened to the MAG [military advocate-general]? Understand this: We are going to make sure that you commit suicide. You will be in the grave, regardless of whether it is legal or not.”

Former military advocate-general Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was hospitalized early on November 9 after medics were summoned to her home in Ramat Hasharon. She was taken to hospital after a suspected suicide attempt.

Tomer-Yerushalmi resigned on October 31 after admitting she had authorized the leak of a classified surveillance video showing alleged abuse of a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility.

The leak triggered a criminal investigation, public outcry, accusations of obstruction of justice, and questions about the military’s legal accountability.
