2 die on roads over weekend

Two people were killed over the weekend in vehicle-related accidents, although neither victim was inside the vehicle that led to their death. A 14-year-old was fatally injured on Highway 222 between Tze'ilim and Revivim when the water tank on which he was riding flipped over and crushed him. Initial investigation indicated that the youth was sitting on the water tank, which was being pulled by a tractor, when the tractor's driver lost control of the vehicle and skidded onto the shoulder. As a result, the water tank flipped over and killed him. An MDA team pronounced him dead on the scene. A second fatal accident occurred on Friday on Highway 40 at the Ganim junction, near the exit from Petah Tikva's Yoseftal neighborhood. A private vehicle hit two pedestrians, a father and son. MDA rescue workers pronounced the father, 60-year-old Yishai Riboa, dead on the scene. His son was taken to the city's Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus, unconscious and in moderate condition.
