200 demonstrators call for Katsav's resignation

Over 200 people, mostly women, have gathered Saturday evening to call for the resignation of President Moshe Katsav. The protestors, carrying signs reading, "Katsav quit, we don't want you anymore" and "President Katsav is an embarrassment," are demonstrating near the Tel Aviv Museum. The protest was initiated by several women's organizations including support groups for victims of sexual harassment as well as MKs Shelly Yacimovich (Labor) and Zehava Gal-On (Meretz). Both of the MKs voted against granting Katsav's request for temporary suspension, instead urging the Knesset to impeach him. Sheera Claire Frenkel contributed to this report.
