More than 5,000 antique coins, some dating back
thousands of years, have been intercepted in the mail on their way out of Israel, the Israel Antiquities Authority said Monday.
Two of the suspects in the antiquities theft were
authorized Jerusalem antiquities dealers.
The array of historic coins date back to the
Hellenistic, Second Temple, Roman, Byzantine, and
Mameluk Periods.
