Ethics Committee: MK committed "a serious ethical offense" by voting in place of another MK.

The Knesset Ethics Committee issued a stern reprimand to senior Kadima MK Ronnie Bar-On on Monday for his part in a double-voting scandal harking back to 2003.
On May 28, 2003, both Bar-On and former MK Yechiel Hazan were caught on video casting different votes in place of then-MK Inbal Gavrieli, as voting took place on the government's economic recovery plan.
Hazan leaned over to vote instead of Gavrieli, who was not in the plenum at the time. He was tried and convicted for fraud in 2006 for his actions, receiving a suspended sentence and community service.
Video evidence released last year revealed that Bar-On had also pushed Gavrieli's button for her during a different vote. Although Bar-On claimed that he had been a new MK at the time and did not understand the implications of his actions, the Ethics Committee ruled that he had committed "a serious ethical offense."
Another Likud MK, Michael Gorlovsky, was also charged with breach of trust for double-voting that same night. He received a suspended sentence and community service.
