Benefits of former Knesset Speakers to be limited to five years

The benefits of former Knesset Speakers will be limited to five years, cutting short the amount of time the speakers can enjoy their state car, office, and advisors. The decision, which will go into effect in three months, will reverse a previous law that grants former speakers life-long benefits. The committee also approved a clause that if a Speaker spends more than 72 days per year abroad, as in the case of Avraham Bourg, all benefits will be cut off immediately.
