On Sunday, residents of Kibbutz Yad Mordechai decided to form a committee aimed at pressuring the Defense Ministry and the Home Front Command to defend the kibbutz's Hofim Elementary School. Members of the committee threatened to keep pupils home from school if security measures weren't taken, Army Radio reported. The IDF told the committee that a special budget had been set aside for the defense of Gaza periphery communities.
