Carmiya residents leave to escape Kassams

About half the residents of Kibbutz Carmiya in the western Negev, many of them evacuees from Gush Katif, moved to a holiday retreat in Ashkelon on Saturday in order to escape future Kassam rocket attacks. The move followed a Kassam attack on Friday night that wounded four people, including a 7-month-old boy. The infant was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba. His condition was reported as stable on Saturday night. The families planned to join a protest in Jerusalem on Sunday over their present situation.
