Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head Yuval Diskin said the West Bank has become increasingly violent, with the area of Samaria especially difficult to control.
Following Israel's withdrawal last summer from the four communities in northern Samaria, the intelligence community has found it difficult to control and gather information from that area, Diskin told reporters on Tuesday, following a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
Because Israel no longer has a permanent presence there, it raises our response time, he explained. "Samaria has become the land of Islamic Jihad following the disengagement."
