A Moscow-bound El-al plane made a safe emergency landing at Ben Gurion airport on Tuesday morning after the pilot heard an irregular sound coming from one of the plane's wheels. The pilot feared that one of the wheels was damaged during take-off and a state of emergency was declared. The incident was reported to ground control and the pilot began to empty the plane's fuel containers, preparing for an emergency landing which took place at approximately 8.30 am. Dozens of ambulances and emergency services were called to the runway. IDF Home Front Command search and rescue and medical teams were also deployed in anticipation of the emergency landing. There were 107 people on board the craft.
