Nine months after Naomi Blumenthal was convicted of bribery and obstruction of judicial procedures, the former Likud MK on Monday presented her appeal before Tel Aviv District Court.
Blumenthal was sentenced to eight months in prison for paying the hotel accommodations of key members of the Likud Central Committee who were due to vote the following day on the party's slate of candidates for the 2001 elections.
Blumenthal's lawyer, Uri Wegman, focused the appeal on an attack on the character of Avi Oski, Blumenthal's former driver, who turned state's witness. Oski testified that Blumenthal had ordered him and the man who organized the evening, Michael Elnekaveh, to tell police a story that she had fabricated to explain away the hotel payment.
