IAF jets scrambled to suspicious aircraft

Several IAF jets were scrambled to an Airo 031 passenger plane from Moscow on Friday when the pilot failed to identify himself by the code required to receive clearance to enter Israeli airspace. The pilot said that one of the passengers had contacted him, claiming that three other passengers were planning to hijack the aircraft. After landing safely at Ben Gurion Airport, accompanied by the IAF jets, security forces searched the plane and concluded that the suspicion was unfounded.
