IDF troops arrested Yasser Ibrahim Nazaal, leader of the Popular Resistance Committees in northern Samaria, in Kabatiya, south of Jenin on Monday evening. Nazaal was among nine Palestinian operatives nabbed by troops operating in the West Bank town. Soldiers found a Kalashnikov rifle in one of the buildings they searched in the area and during the operation, Palestinians opened fire on the troops. No one was wounded and no damage was reported. Earlier Monday, Palestinians fired two mortars at IDF troops near the Karni crossing on Monday afternoon. The troops returned fire. No IDF casualties were reported. Meanwhile, a Kassam rocket landed near a strategic facility in an industrial zone in Ashkelon. No casualties were reported, but several structures sustained damage. Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades later claimed responsibility for the attack. Earlier Monday, three Kassam rockets landed in the western Negev. No one was wounded, and no damage was reported. Since the ceasefire was declared last month, 55 Kassam rockets have been fired at southern Israel.

In the Bethlehem area, an Islamic Jihad operative and a Tanzim member were arrested.
