A Border Police force on Monday evening arrested Samar Abu Alhija, a senior Islamic Jihad activist from Jenin.
The arrest was made after security forces found a Kalashnikov assault rifle in Abu Alhija's home.
Security forces came under fire and had an explosive device thrown at them during the operation. No one was hurt and no damage was reported.
