Defense Minister Amir Peretz approved on Tuesday evening the recommendation of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi to appoint Maj.-Gen. Meir Kalifi, head of the IDF Ground Forces, to the post of military secretary to the prime minister.
Kalifi will take over from Maj.-Gen. Gadi Shamni, who was recently appointed OC Central Command.
