Fire destroys Nahariya apartment building; Jerusalem man dies in Ramot.

The death toll in recent fires continued to rise overnight Saturday after a 60-year-old Kiryat Malachi resident died from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in his apartment.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze but paramedics were unable to resuscitate the man.
An initial investigation indicated that a lit cigarette had caused the fire.
On Friday evening, a Nahariya apartment building was destroyed in a fire that broke out after an oil heater was left on unattended.
Firefighters evacuated five families - whose members included elderly people and small children - and extinguished the blaze. Two firefighters were lightly injured from smoke inhalation; none of the building's occupants were injured.
Earlier Friday, a man died as the result of a fire that broke out in his home in Jerusalem's Ramot neighborhood.
An investigation into the cause of the fire indicated that the man had dropped a lit cigarette while drunk.
Also on Friday, authorities announced that the 37-year-old man who was burned to death overnight Wednesday in a caravan in Ma'aleh Amos was Yehuda Ben Yosef.
The fire that killed Ben Yosef had apparently started after a candle, which had been left burning, fell off a table and spread flames throughout the caravan, a fire specialist said late Thursday afternoon.
Three of the five people injured in a fire Thursday morning in a south Tel Aviv apartment were children. They were evacuated to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where they were listed in serious condition. Their parents were lightly injured.
Findings from an initial investigation concluded that the fire had been caused by a short circuit in the building.
