Likud office: Welfare minister urgently needed

The Supreme Court is scheduled to convene at the end of January to rule on appointing a welfare minister in the government, Army Radio reported Tuesday. The legal demand was pressed by the Likud Party's government-comptroller office. "It is unbelievable that there is no minister in the government who is devoted exclusively to welfare issues when the welfare services of the country are collapsing," said the statement issued by the Likud office. The Supreme Court panel of justices will be headed by Court President Dorit Beinisch.
