Man shot dead in apparent TA robbery

89-yr-old found with gunshot wounds to stomach in Tikva neighborhood.

An 89-year-old man was shot to death in an apparent robbery Friday morning after returning from synagogue to his Tel Aviv apartment.
MDA reported that after being called out to the man's home in the city's Tikva neighborhood, a medical team found him with gunshot wounds to the stomach. Medics attempted to resuscitate him at the scene before evacuating him to Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Police said it appeared there were at least two suspects who were apparently part of an organized gang that had carried out several robberies in the area.
They stressed that it seemed the robbers knew that the man kept large sums of cash in his home, and that the  man may have been followed home from synagogue.
Cmdr. Yoram Ohayon told Army Radio that there were signs of a struggle in the apartment before the man - the owner of the apartment building - was shot in front of his wife and carer.
